Louis Madison Patrick Sr., 86

SAVANNAH--Funeral for Louis Madison Patrick, Sr., 86, was held at Long Creek Primitive Baptist Church on Friday, Aug. 17, 2007 at 11 a.m., with Elder Tommy Rountree, officiating. Graveside service was held on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Elder Tommy Rountree, officiating. He died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at St. Joseph's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Emanuel County, he was a life-long member of Long Creek Primitive Baptist Church and he honorably served in the United States Army during World War II. Preceded in death by his devoted wife, Frances Cox Patrick, they both resided in Savannah for more than 50 years. During that time he became a master carpenter, worked for twentyeight years as a supervisor at Great Dane Trailers along with serving in the Industrial Management Council in association with the Savannah-based company. For the past eight years he resided in Metter where he served as a member of the Historical Society of Candler County.

Survivors include his wife, Margarette Cowart Patrick of Metter; and her children Kathryn Cowart Dohn (Ken) and Bonnie Cowart Dowling (Hampton) both of Macon; three children, Ronald W. Patrick (Faye) of Savannah, June McKendree Boggs (Mike) of Corbin, Ky., and Louis M. Patrick, Jr. (Debbie) of Richmond Hill; three grandchildren, Kelley Delaperriere, Pamela Byrd and William Dowling and three great-grandchildren Lauren and Paige Delaperriere and Andrew Byrd; seven grandchildren, Wendi M. Patrick and Amy L. Patrick of Savannah, Traci McKendree Hicks (Terry) of Crestwood, Ky., Tami McKendree Powers (Steven) of Savannah, Teri McKendree vonWaldner (Greg) of Centerville, Michael L. Patrick and Ashley E. Patrick of Richmond Hill; eight greatgrandchildren, Logan, Connor, Ty, and Sydni Hicks, Stevie, Madison, and Ryan Powers and Samantha vonWaldner.

Pallbearers were Terry Hicks, Steven Powers, Greg vonWaldner, Jerry Grimes, Michael Patrick, and John Powell.

Remembrances may be sent to the American Cancer Society and Hospice Savannah Inc.

Fairhaven Funeral Home of Garden City had charge of arrangements.
