The Blade supports our community DEAR EDITOR: The school year is off to a great start at SHS! This year, our school slogan is "The Future is in Your Hands." The Forest-Blade has once again shown our community that they support the future of our youth by allowing the Family and Consumer Sciences' Nutrition II students the opportunity to have news articles related to nutrition issues published in The Forest- Blade! I was hesitant about presenting the idea to these students, but as soon as they learned their article could be chosen to be published for everyone to see, they quickly became excited! This opportunity will not only give these students the chance to practice their writing skills for the Georgia High School Graduation Test, but it will also prepare them for further education, as many of these students are preparing for college and technical school past graduation. We would also like to thank you for allowing us to participate in the "Cook of the Week." Students have enjoyed writing a short statement about their interests and activities, as well as provide family recipes to share with readers. Once again, thanks for allowing us to show the community the positive aspects of Swainsboro High School and provide a wonderful learning experience for my students. LEAH A.
