Bee Hive breaks ground

BREAKING GROUND AT BEE HIVE
Several board members and friends were on hand for the groundbreaking service for the new Bee Hive Chapel building on Saturday, July 7. The Bee Hive, which started in 2004 in Swainsboro, moved to a larger property on Highway 23 between Twin City and Metter last year.

As part of their expansion the new chapel building will house a sanctuary, day room, and storage rooms. The Bee Hive Chapel and Recovery Program was started by the late Rev. Norman R. Ashworth and his wife, Rev. Donna L. Ashworth who continues to run the facility.

The Bee Hive has regular church services on Tuesday evenings and one Sunday a month. After the new chapel is complete more services will be held including "Overcomers in Christ" meetings for people with addiction problems. We also plan to open a food pantry and a clothes closet for folks in need.

"Part of the ministry is dedicated to housing ladies who are recovering from drug and/or alcohol addiction," said Rev. Ashworth. "The ladies live at the facility for six months and during that time attend classes, services, and receive help in their recovery process. At the end of six months they graduate the program, but continue to receive encouragement as needed. To date - 84% of the graduates are still clean and serving the Lord."

All of the teachers and workers are volunteers. The program is supported solely by donations from the ladies (who can help), area churches, organizations, and others who believe in the ministry.
