Jimmy Wayne Powell

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Jimmy Wayne Powell, 67, was held Monday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at Swainsboro First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Blankenship and Rev. Louis Pearce will officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. He died Saturday, July 21, 2007.

Mr. Powell was a lifelong resident of Emanuel County. He served in the National Guard and attended First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Steadfast I Sunday School Class. He was retired after working at Creston's/Argo Mills for over 30 years and at Georgia Department of Transportation for 8 years.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Hutcheson Powell of Swainsboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Trey Freeman of Athens; a son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Jill Powell of Watkinsville; two grandchildren, Dylan and Anzley Beth Freeman; two brothers, Larry Powell, Swainsboro and Jack Powell of Swainsboro; and one sister, Lois Timms of Greenville, S.C.

Nephews served as pallbearers. Members of the Steadfast I Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Jimmie W. Powell to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284- 0692.

Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
