Marion E. Lewis, 86 SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Marion E. Lewis, ,86, was held Friday, July 20, 2007 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Swainsboro with Rev. Wayne DeFore officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. She died July 16, 2007 at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness. Ms. Lewis was a native of Evans County but had lived in Swainsboro for over 40 years. She attended and graduated from Claxton High School and attended University of Georgia and received a degree in home economics. She was a retired teacher with Emanuel County Board of Education. While at UGA, she was a member of AOTT. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Swainsboro and was active in church affairs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jefferson and Owetha Burkhalder Edwards; and daughter, Evelyn Lewis Burch. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Josh L. Lewis III and Donna W. Lewis of Atlanta; a son-in-law, Louis E. Burch; three grandchildren, Kenneth W. Edenfield and Josh L. Lewis IV of Atlanta; and Leslie Ann Lewis of Los Angeles, Calif.; former husband and father of her children, Josh L. Lewis Sr. of Swainsboro; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Chuck Wofford, M.L. Reid, Mid Parker, Le Giradeau, Jimmy Sands and Henry Terwilliger. Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.
