Public hearing held for county budget

A public hearing was conducted by Emanuel County Commissioners Monday, July 23 to hear comments relating to the budget for fiscal year 2008. No member of the public was present to comment. The final budget hearing will be held Monday, July 30 at 7 p.m.at which time the proposed millage rate will be set and a resolution adopted. The county is proposing a 10.339 millage rate, rolling back from 10.455 last year. Total revenue is expected to be $14,665,623.

All interested citizens, groups, senior citizens and organizations representing the interest of senior citizens are encouraged to attend and submit comments. Persons needing special services should contact County Administrator Ezra Price, coordinator for handicapped services, at 237-3881, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
