Grand opening of Flat Creek Lodge Dairy was held Saturday, June 9. A country picnic was held on the grounds of Flat Creek Lodge. The micro-dairy, only the second of its kind in the state of Georgia, will be using the milk of its Jersey cows to make artisan cheeses. Currently, the dairy has colby, havarti, edam and gouda cheeses ready for purchase and is looking to expand its line in the near future. The Dairy's cheesemaker is Rip Williams.

On hand to join in the celebration of the grand opening of the Dairy were Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin, Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture Terry Coleman, Rep. Ron Stephens, Rep. Bob Lane and Rep. Butch Parrish. County commissioners, representatives from Swainsboro-Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce and many other local officials also attended the event.
