      Ed Daniels of Daniels Chevrolet recently visited Kids 'R' Us in Swainsboro and met with a teacher and children. Each child wrote a letter or card to be sent to military personnel overseas. The program is a part of the "A Million Thanks" program sponsored by Buick-Pontiac-GM dealers.

      Despite only being in Swainsboro about a week, Dr. Jeffrey Cook seems very enthusiastic about his new place helping Dr. Randy Yeomans at his chiropractic practice. A Michigan native, Cook attended Life University in Marietta to become the seventh chiropractor in his family.

Magician to visit Library
      Ken Scott, comedic magician, will be performing his feats of magic at Franklin Memorial Library on June 19 at 10 a.m. Voted Greater Atlanta Entertainer of the Year, Scott has written and performed literature based reading magic shows for public library systems in Georgia for the past twelve years.

Watkins receives scholarships
      Alexa Watkins has been named a winner of the Robins Federal's Most Excellent Senior Team Scholarship. She will receive a four-year scholarship of $4,000. She is a Swainsboro High School honor graduate who will attend the University of Georgia, where she plans to major in business.

Memorial Day ceremony held downtown
      A Memorial Day ceremony was held in Patriot's Square to honor the 119 Emanuel County military personnel who have died in wars from World War I to the present day. Elder Tommy Rountree gave the invocation and Jimmy Morgan, the county's oldest war veteran, was the main speaker.
