Josie Sikes Durden MIDVILLE--Graveside services for Josie Sikes Durden was held Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Midville City Cemetery with Rev. Bucky Kennedy and Rev. Leonard Quick officiating. She died at University Hospital in Augusta after an extended illness. Mrs. Durden was a native of Burke County; she retired with University of Georgia Southeast Experiment Station. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Midville. She loved family, fishing and reading. She was preceded in death by her son, Randall Durden. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (Meme), and great-grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Gene Durden of Midville; her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and David Simmons of North Augusta, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law,Timothy Gene and Cheri Durden of Buford; daughterin law, Kaye Durden; sister, Pearl Braswell of Midville; brother, Minus Sikes Jr. of Midville; seven grandchildren, Chris and Brandy Rutland, Rick and Monnie Jackson, Devin Durden, Christian Durden, Deanna Simmons, Coby Durden, Danielle Durden; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Jackson, Jackson Rutland, Brayden Rutland, Callie Jackson; and a special caregiver and close friend, Pat Smith of Midville. Pallbearers were Jeff Bunn, Steve Bunn, Carey Cobb, Bob, McNeil, Tommy Roberson and Virgil Choats. Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.
