DEAR EDITOR:

On Monday afternoon April 30 at approximately 1:30 p.m., I was robbed at my home under my carport. A man drove in my driveway and approached me as I was getting out of my car, and asked me if he could wash my car, and I told him "no." He then looked in my car on the front seat of the car and said, "Well, I will take this," and got my handbag, got back in his car and left. I did not offer him any resistance, and he did not hurt me.

I immediately dialed 911 and I could not believe how quick the policeman got here (Mr. Meadows). It seemed like he was in my backyard by the time I hung up the telephone.

I gave him the best description of the man, and the car he was driving and the description of my handbag and its contents the best I could. I was so frightened I couldn't remember very well, but I had a yard man working in my front yard and he was better able to describe the man and the car he was driving. I say all of this to say how appreciative I am of our law enforcement officers and the way they have handled this situation, and all of their help in so many ways.

Our chief Johnny Shuman immediately notified my pastor and my church family. And there is no way I could ever thank my family, my pastor, my church family and so many friends who have supported me with their prayers and their love and concern for me.

Mr. Meadows told me he might find my handbag, which he did and brought to me around 5 o'clock that afternoon. Of course all the money was gone and some of the other important things.

I would also like to thank our sheriff Tyson Stephens, his deputies, detectives and all who joined in the search for the suspect. He was caught and arrested on Friday, May 4 at 4 p.m.

Thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for all you did for me and for all you do every day for our safety and may God bless each one of you.
