Memorial service

McLeod-Moring Rangers Camp 1386, Sons of Confederate Veterans hosted a Memorial Service to honor the placement of four Confederate markers at Lamb Cemetery on April 14. The Honor Guard Service was sponsored by the Gen. Robert A. Toombs Camp 932 of Vidalia. Confederate Veterans receiving markers were Pvt. Solomon J. Kersey, Pvt. James I. Kersey, Pvt. Thomas Ephraim Peebles, and Pvt. William B. Prysock. Approximately 75 descendants and spectators were present for the event. Members representing the local camp were Commander Joseph W. Peebles, Color Sgt. Donald E. Hall, Chaplain Emory D. Fennell, Past Commander Danny L. Greenway, Sr., Adjutant W. Nick Kraus, and Historian Fred D. Womack. Present but not pictured were Lt. Commander David G. Love and Historian Steve E. Burke.
