Celebrating older Americans!

Photo by Jacquie Brasher BALLOONS ARE RELEASED TO CELEBRATE OLDER AMERICANS MONTH
May is Older Americans Month and the annual balloon launch was held to commemorate the event. Many extracurricular activities have been planned for the month. Special guest speakers will include Probate Judge Don Wilkes; Director of Elections Jeb Cameron; Cindy Igou, Elder Abuse Prevention; and Mary White of Emanuel County Extension office.

Other activities are Health Aging Fun Day at the park in Lyons, Hat Day, Little Debbie cake walk, Mothers' Day program, trips to the Coca-Cola Museum and Stillmore Museum, and meals at Chatters in Lyons and Sheppards Restaurant in Meeks. Line dancers will perform at a local nursing home, senior center party and Fun Day in Lyons. A party will also be held at the Senior Center, including a birthday celebration with ice cream and cake. Bingo, exercise, nutrition education, card games and checkers are some of the activities available.
