Robber caught

An arrest has been made in the rash of robberies by sudden snatch in the last week. According to Emanuel County Sheriff Tyson Stephens, Shawn Leonard Mutch, 36, of Jenkins County was arrested Friday, May 5 at 4 p.m., based on information provided by victims and witnesses. Assisting in the arrest were officers from the Sheriff's Department, Swainsboro Police Department and agents from East Central Georgia Drug Task Force.

"Thanks to the hard work by our investigators Rocky Davis and Stuart Fagler and SPD officer Craig Morris and Det. Coleman Hall, we were able to quickly identify Mutch and arrest him without incident," said Sheriff Stephens.

Mutch is being held in Emanuel County Jail for following women home and then robbing and mugging them in their driveways on at least three separate occasions. Charges are also pending for aggravated battery for the injuries sustained by one of his victims.
