SPS student caught with needle

A second grade student at Swainsboro Primary School was reported to have had a needle in the student's possession last week.

"It is my understanding that a second grade student did have a needle at school," said Marie Wofford, director of PR & Personnel Services. "We are not sure of the origin of the needle. The student punctured herself with the needle. Another student grabbed the needle and stuck himself in the finger. Two other students were punctured."

Wofford added, "School staff immediately confiscated the needle and followed safety protocol by contacting the parents, the local health department and DFACS. The situation is being monitored."
