TENNILLE--Funeral for Laura M. Thompson, 87, was held Monday, March 12, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Directors Chapel in Sandersville with Rev. Chad Waller and Rev. John Jenkins officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery in Emanuel County. She died Friday, March 9, 2007 at Heritage Inn Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Appling County to the late Homer Mincey and the late Mattie Mae Shurling Mincey. She was retired from Central State Hospital as a charge attendant. She was preceded in death by three sons, Johnny Ted Thompson, James Emmett Thompson and Allen Dewey Thompson; and her granddaughter, Sterling Janelle Thompson.

Survivors include her children, Johnny N. Thompson (Linda) of Augusta; Robert Thompson (Betty) of Haddock; Van Thompson (Sandra) of Tennille; Tye Thompson (Penny) of Harrison; Autry Thompson (Tina) of Milledgeville; and Charles Thompson (Dee) of Harrison; 23 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren; and her sister, Mrs. E.L. Anderson of Brunswick.

Pallbearers were Tony Thompson, Tracy Thompson, Robert Thompson Jr., Mike Thompson, Curt Thompson, Keith Thompson, Billy Thompson, Chad Thompson and John Paul Manken.
