West Main BP robbed Thursday The BP gas station at 227 West Main Street in Swainsboro was robbed Thursday, March 8 at around 9:56 p.m. just as it was about to close. "Evidence has been sent to the crime lab," said Police Chief Johnny Shuman. Lee Page, owner of West Main BP, declined to comment. According to a report by SwainsboroPolice Department, Idell Holland Hairr, employee at West Main BP reported an unknown black male entered the building at closing time and told employee it was a robbery. Victim said suspect had a gun. A witness, Anthony Hairr, who is the son of the employee, said the suspect told him to lie down and cover his face or he would shoot him. Employee was told to open the safe, which he could not. Suspect became enraged and started beating employee on his hands with the gun, causing victim's hands to bleed. Suspect pushed employee up against a wall and took $200 from his pocket. Suspect then stole employee's cell phone and fled on foot. Suspect also stole $200 from the cash register.
