DEA seniors receive honors

Five senior basketball players at David Emanuel Academy were recently selected for various post season honors at the state level.

Dawda Njie was selected to play for team Georgia in the GISA versus SCISA All-Star Game in Columbia, South Carolina this Saturday at 1:30. Njie was also chosen as a Class AAll-State player. Njie will be joined on the Georgia squad by teammate Jared Flowers.

Macy Fagler was also chosen to play for team Georgia in the girls game which will be played at 12 noon. Fagler was also chosen to the GISA class AAll-State team.

Clifford Byrd and Logan Salter were both chosen as All-State players for the boys while Jessica Cook was named to the girls All-State team.

"We are very excited to have five All-State players," said Coach Andy Callaway. "No other class A school had more than three All-State players. It is also an honor to have three of our players get the opportunity to play for and represent team Georgia in the game versus the South Carolina Independent All- Stars."

Joining Njie and Flowers on the boys team Georgia A-AA squad are Joseph Draughn of Heirway Christian, J.T. Martin of LaGrange, Wil Hall of Bulloch Academy, Ashton Thomas of Brookwood, Tyler Woods of Valwood, Alex Shaefer of Holy Spirit Prep, Torey Dixon of Robert Toombs, Chad Acree and Austin Herig of Furtah Prep and Dustin Jeffords of Georgia Christian. The team will be coached by Eugene Fries of Furtah Prep and Jarvis Smith of Robert Toombs.

Those making the boys Class A All-State team along with Njie, Byrd and Salter were Dustin Jeffords of Georgia Christian, Ben Bailey of Fullington, Mike Neese of Crisp, Torey Dixon of Robert Toombs, Alonzo Shields and Anterius Roberts of Bethesda, Spencer Hutto of CCA, Joey Bell of First Presbyterian, J.T. Martin of La- Grange, Garrett Smith of Flint River and Levi Barnes and Joseph Draughn of Heirway Christian.

Joining Fagler on the Girls A/AA team Georgia squad are Courtney Spilman of Terrell, Tabby Gay of John Hancock, Karlie Ingram of Fullington, Jessica Jolley of Brentwood, Julie Teel of Tiftarea, Dorie Garner, Kami Bass and Bliss McMichael of Trinity, Leanne Cassandra of Pinecrest, Kimmie Champion of Robert Toombs and Courtney Darwin of CCA.

Fagler and Cook are joined on the Class AAll- State team by Porsha Morgan and Gabby Buck of LaGrange, Courtney Spilman, Julie Davis, Haley O'Hearn of Terrell, Courtney Darwin and Amber Fountain of CCA, Ivy Reese of Curtis Baptist, Karlie Ingram of Fullington, Alex Stanley and Hannah Dees of Robert Toombs, Katie Lohman of Flint River and Erica Perkins of Oak Mountain Academy.
