Cephus Cowart, 73 WADLEY--Funeral for Cephus Cowart, 73, was held Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007 at 2 p.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Garren officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. He died Wednesday, Jan, 24, 2007 at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville. Mr. Cowart was born in Emanuel County and had lived in Wadley since 1951. He was self-employed and a member of St. John's United Methodist Church of Wadley. He was preceded in death by Joe and Alice Black; Bob and Annie Cowart; Ray Cowart, Lloyd Cowart and Ben Cowart. Survivors include his wife, Josephine Cowart of Wadley; four sons, Gary Cowart (Rita), Joel Cowart (Brenda) and Mike Cowart (Sandy) of Wadley; and Larry Cowart of Louisville; a sister, Betty Grimes of Bartow; two brothers, Virgil Cowart of Bartow; and Cleveland Cowart (Barbara) of Davisboro; eight grandchildren, Dewayne Cowart (Terrie), Melissa Cowart, Richie Cowart (Wendy), Josh, Ashley and Michael Cowart; and Jessica and Crystal Ballard; five great-grandchildren, Joe, Alexis, Karsyn, Noah and Addie Cowart; sisterin law, Betty Rigdon, whom he loved as a sister and who loved him as a brother; brother-in-law Jack Rigdon; sister-in-law Carolyn Cowart; and daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Cowart. Pallbearers were Ronnie Spence, Gary Spence, Josh Cowart, Joe Sheppard, Chris Johnson and Tony Greenway. Memorial may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, in care of Betty Anderson, PO Box 142, Wadley GA 30477. Smith Funeral Home of Wadley had charge of arrangements.
