Jack Williams, 80 KITE--Funeral for Jack Williams, 80, will be held Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Minton Chapel Advent Christian Church with Rev. Ray Brown, Rev. M.L. Barber and Rev. Bob Rathbun officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007 after an extended illness. Mr. Williams was born on July 8, 1926 in Johnson County. He was the son of the late Cleveland L. and Fleeta Pullen Williams. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Air Corps. He was a member of Minton Chapel Advent Christian Church where he served as trustee and deacon, and was Sunday School treasurer for 57 years. He served on the Johnson County Board of Education for 15 years before retiring. He also retired as a school bus driver after 15 years. He served as president of Johnson County Farm Bureau for six years. In 1995, he was chosen Johnson County Soil Conservationist Man of the Year. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joyce B. Williams of Kite; a son, Jack (Marsha) Williams Jr. of Kite; a daughter, Joy (Mike) Williams Farthing of Twin City; a brother, Louie Williams of Kite; a sister, Bettie Fountain of Adrian; four grandchildren, Brooke Williams, Justin Williams, Kip Farthing and Summer Simmons; and a great-grandchild, Mary Carol Farthing. Pallbearers will be Robert Fountain Jr., Randy Buxton, Justin Williams, Frank Parson, Harvey Blizzard and Randall Williams. Stanley Funeral Home of Wrightsville had charge of arrangements.
