Arthur R. 'Dickie' Daniels, 70

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Arthur Richard "Dickie" Daniels, 70, was held Monday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne DeFore officiating. Burial was in Twin City City Cemetery. He died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at Emanuel Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mr. Daniels was born August 24, 1936 and was a native of Emanuel County. He was son of Arthur Randolph and Ollis Cowart Daniels and grandson of Marlow and Rachel Serepta Warnock Daniels. Educated in the Swainsboro schools, Mr. Daniels graduated from Darlington Preparatory School in Rome, graduated from Emory at Oxford and the University of Georgia and was member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He was President and Dealer Principal of Daniels Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Inc. and received many awards while under his leadership and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-inlaw, Richard M. and Jennifer Harper Daniels, Samuel H. and Maria W. Daniels and Edward H. and Rebecca S. Daniels, all of Swainsboro; his special friend and love of his life, Dorothy Kirby of Swainsboro; a sister, Barbara Daniels Glass of Augusta; three grandchildren, Richard Blaine Daniels, Rachael Marie Daniels and Jacob Vaughan Daniels, all of Swainsboro; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were David Berry, Dr. Randall B. Brown, Henry Terwilliger, Don Bishop, Donald Davis, David Blount, Tyson Stephens and Ricky Sikes. Honorary pallbearers were Employees of Daniels Chevrolet, Ann Peebles, Midge Bowen, Owen Bellamy, Tommy Sanders, Ed Roche, Billy Ray Harbin and Larry Sikes.

Donations in memory of Mr. Daniels may be made to First United Methodist Church of Swainsboro.

Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.
