Art in Swainsboro!
BY ANTHONY FARIS Co-director Gallery RFD

An estimated 360 artists are displaying artwork this month in four locations near downtown Swainsboro. Here is a run-down of the four exhibitions:

+ Most of the artwork was created on envelopes and packages sent through the mail system for Gallery RFD's inaugural exhibition "The Art of Communication." The show includes an impressive installation by Milledgeville artist Ernesto Gomez. Gomez created a piece of art created from hundreds of offers he'd received through the mail that the viewer has to walk through. The piece is titled "An Offer You Can't Refuse." This show will be up until Feb. 3.

+ Jack's Java Cove is highlighting thirteen artists from around Cochran who call themselves the Three Cities Group. The artwork is diverse in media and subject matter. The group shows several times a year and offers any artist that's interested the opportunity to show work with them. This makes the artwork diverse in media and subject matter. The show is titled SimpliCity and will be up at Jacks Java until the end of January.

+ Several artists from Macon are showing their work at Brantley's Billiards on Green Street. The work was created by artists from the Contemporary Arts Exchange in Macon. The artists hung new and old works exploring subject matter ranging from the rural south to figure studies. One of the highlights of the show is a Neo-Impressionist painting created in soft whites hung toward the back of the exhibition. This show will be up until the first week in February.

+ The Emanuel Arts Council rounds out the four shows with a strong exhibition by BJ Williams and Linda Parrish. The exhibition is titled "The Sisters Show" and includes both photography and painting. Works by Linda Parrish show abstracted interpretations of light while BJ William's work explores a sense of place with wonderfully composed studies of southern subject matter. This show will be up until February 1st.

Each of the before-mentioned shows was a stop along the Second Saturday Art Stroll. If you missed one of them or would like to re-visit some of your favorite pieces, the work will be up for the rest of the month. New and exciting artwork will be ready in February for the Second Saturday Art Stroll on Feb. 10. That show features Landscape work at Gallery RFD and new works by EGC art students at Jack's Java.
