Waffle King robbed at gunpoint
By JACQUIE BRASHER

WAFFLE KING IN SWAINSBORO
An armed robbery occurred at Waffle King Restaurant in Swainsboro Monday, Jan. 22 at about 3:50 a.m. According to Swainsboro Police Chief Johnny Shuman, a single black male, around 5 feet 7 or 8 inches, slender build, late teens or early 20s, with a black and white bandana tied around his face, entered the back door of the establishment. Two employees were working at the time and taking a coffee break when the suspect entered the store. There were no customers in the store.

"(The suspect) forced both employees to lie on the floor," said Chief Shuman. "He took an undetermined amount of cash and exited the back door." Shuman said the suspect had a medium-length barrel revolver. Witnesses in the area reported seeing an older model white Toyota Camry circling through the area on one or more occasions.

No one was hurt in the robbery. Officers on scene were Bryan Moore, Fred Mozee and Heidi Hall. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Swainsboro Police Department at 237-8967.
