Gary 'Memories Day' slated Jan. 20 Gary Community families are invited to Gary Memories Day Saturday, Jan. 20 beginning at 11 a.m. with "Meet and Greet" at the Woodmen of the World Building on Canoochee Road with a basket lunch at 12:30 p.m. The history program of Gary will begin at 1:30 p.m. A farming community in the early 1900s---in the 40s and 50s new families began to buy property and the community began to change. New families included: Quick Lewis, Marshburn, Rowland, Schwalls, Breedlove, McCullough, Youmans, Thompson, Johnson, Hammock, Hadden, Wiggins, Mason, Daniels, Claxton, Scott, Woods, Lindseys, Doyle, Marion, Foots, Fennell, Durden, Marsh and others.
