Tiger basketball starts with a bang

The month of January is the start of a new year, and the start of Tiger basketball. This past Friday night the Tigers hosted Metter. This game was the second region game that the Tigers have played this season. Both the boys and girls won their games against Metter. The boys won 56-47 and the girls won 59-45. The high lady Tiger shooters were Jasmine Lloyd with 15 points, Tekiya Sherrod with 14 points, and Paige Johnson with 10. Tony Mitchell with 25 points and Derrick Smith with 14 points led the boys in points against Metter.

The Tigers won Friday night but the weekend was not over. On Saturday the Tigers traveled to Screven County to play another region game. The girls won 58-43 and the boys won 52-46. Once again, Derrick Smith and Tony Mitchell were the high shooters for the boys. Smith shot 19 points and Mitchell shot 16 points against Screven. The lady Tiger high shooters were Paige Johnson with 14, Tekiya Sherrod with 12, and Jasmine Lloyd with 10.

This upcoming weekend the Tigers will be playing in Augusta on Friday and Saturday. The Tigers face Josey on Friday and Westside on Saturday. The Tiger boys are 2-0 in region and the girls are 2-1 in region play. Be sure to support Tiger basketball.
