Shopping and strolling on second Saturday Swainsboro has joined the ranks of Savannah, Augusta, Macon, Statesboro and Atlanta in hosting an Art Stroll, an event where patrons walk around to area businesses to view artwork, visit area stores, and get great deals on purchases around town. Art openings at Gallery RFD, Jack's Java Cove, Emanuel Arts Council and Brantley's Billiards will highlight the event. Local stores will remain open from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday night with deals ranging from 10% off specialty gifts to $25 off professional portraits. The event is part of Gallery RFD's Art Incubator project. Co-Director Anthony Faris explains, "We hope that this event will get people out and about on Saturday nights in Swainsboro. There are great deals in the shops, great artwork in the gallery's, great music at many of the venues, what else could you ask for?" The event will be held every second Saturday of the month in Downtown Swainsboro. The event is hosted by Gallery RFD, Georgia Rural Economic Development Center, Swainsboro-Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce and Emanuel Arts Council.
