DEAR EDITOR: The Animal Shelter wishes to announce the birth of 12 Christmas puppies! Born on Christmas morning, the mother is a Golden Retriever and the father was a traveling man. But, seriously, during the year 2006, the Animal Shelter received 872 dogs. This is more than we have ever received in previous years. Many of these were puppies found in dumpsters or on the side of the road. Because of slow adoptions and overcrowding, it was necessary to euthanize (put to sleep) 473 dogs. Some of these dogs were very beautiful animals. Please help us keep the numbers down by controlling your female dogs and confining all dogs to your property by fence or chain.
