Exchange Club kicks off campaign for road name

SHOT STRANGE, MARTIN BRIDGES, JAY PATEL, JERRY HOOKS, MARK WILLIAMS AT CAMPAIGN KICKOFF
The Swainsboro Exchange Club has kicked off a campaign to raise donations for the naming of the new entrance road to East Georgia College. Construction of the new road to the college will begin in January 2007.

Exchange Club, under the chairmanship of L.C. “Shot” Strange, is presently raising donations to name the new entrance road after Dr. Madison Dixon. Dr. Dixon was instrumental in leading the way for Emanuel County to be considered as a site for a two-year college. He served as the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce in 1970 as land for the college was being donated by Mrs. Luck Flanders Gambrell and citizens of the county were preparing to vote on a bond to build the college. With Dr. Dixon and his committee of community supporters, the bond passed and citizens and civic clubs throughout Emanuel County endorsed and supported the establishment of the twoyear college. A long-time member of the Swainsboro Exchange Club, Dr. Dixon remains extremely active in his community.

Donations can be made to the East Georgia College Foundation, which is a 501(c)3 corporation; therefore, all donations are tax deductible. You may contact Jerry Hooks, Exchange Club member and Director of Public Information at East Georgia College, at 478-289-2036, to make your donation.
