Fatal Bypass accident

This accident happened at about 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11 at the Bypass and Old Nunez Road. Killed in the wreck was Larry “Rooster” Howell, 63, of Swainsboro. Howell was a recognizable and well-liked member of our community. He worked at West Main BP. According to a preliminary report from Georgia State Patrol, Thomas Alex Howell of Swainsboro, who was driving a 1994 Chevy 1500, was traveling east on Old Nunez Road and failed to yield to a 1989 Peterbilt truck traveling north and driven by Sylvia Ann Frost of Vidalia. Both driver and passenger of the vehicle at fault were ejected.
