Katherine Rountree Quillian, 89

LAGRANGE--Memorial service for Katherine Rountree Quillian, 89, was held in the chapel of First United Methodist Church of LaGrange on Monday, Dec. 4, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Helen Freeman officiating. She died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

Mrs. Quillian was born on Dec. 26, 1916 in Swainsboro to Ivy Washington Rountree and Mary Madeline Quillian Rountree. After attending Wesleyan College in Macon, Huntington College in Montgomery and University of Georgia, she married Hubert T. Quillian Jr. They lived in LaGrange all their married life and were married almost 60 years. She was active in community and church organizations and worked with the Girl Scouts, American Red Cross, LaGrange Welfare Association, LaGrange College Faculty Wives Club, LaGrange Council of Church Women, Clothing

Center, Camp Viola and all of the libraries of La- Grange. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mary Will Thompson Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her husband, Hubert T. Quillian Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine (Kay) Q. Chester and James S. Chester II of Marietta; two grandsons, James S. Chester III of Marietta; and Matthew Q. Chester of Sandpoint, Md.; a brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. William E. Rountree; two nieces, Dr. Julia N. Rountree and Madelyn R. Lambert; and a great niece, Sarah C. Hackle, all of Swainsboro.

Striffler-Hamby Mortuary of LaGrange had charge of arrangements.
