Agreement signed for Huber plant

Emanuel County Board of Commissioners, Joint Development Authority, Emanuel County Board of Education and city of Swainsboro have signed a non-binding agreement that lays out the structure for the state and local incentives to clear the way for Huber Engineered Wood, LLC to proceed with the property site for the project.

Also during this week, additional meetings will be held for the boards of Tax Assessors and Tax Commissioner to review the agreement and add their signatures.

The new OSB plant has been scheduled for construction

in Emanuel County but the startup date will be determined by national housing market conditions. The company is currently continuing with aspects of plant engineering/design and environmental permitting.

"We all look forward to this construction beginning on the new plant," said Andy Riley, JDA president. "With the signing of this agreement and the purchase of the property we will have reached another major milestone in this process."
