Evelene Stephens, 71 SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Evelene Stephens, 72, was held Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Swainsboro City Auditorium with Pastor Elizabeth Howard officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. She died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006 after and extended illness. Mrs. Stephens was born on Dec. 12, 1934 to the late Allen Hightower and Elder Minnie Lee Bass Hightower Phillips. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curly Stephens; a sister, Lorraine Coppock; and a grandson, Darron Stephens. Survivors include four daughters, Jacqueline Johnson, Mary Hall, Michelle Stephens and Marcella Williams; two sons, Curly Stephens Jr., and George Washington Jr.; two adopted daughters, Marie Jordan and Charlie Mae Golden; and an adopted son, Robert Strowbridge, all of Swainsboro; 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and seven greatgreat grandchildren. Pallbearers were Sammy T. Coppock, Calvin Seabrough, Kenneth Bynes, Termetrias Gardner, Charles Seabrough Jr. and Calvin Brown. Mosley's Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
