Tigers' successful season comes to close
The first quarter went by in a hurry. The Raiders scored first when they broke a 37 yard touchdown run. The extra point was no good and the Raiders were in the lead. Swainsboro answered right back when Nigel Cason broke several tackles up the middle for a 60 yard touchdown run. Pablo Silva tacked on the extra point. Going into the second quarter the Tigers were in the lead by one point. Derrick Smith really hurt the Raider's momentum when he ran for a 80 yard touchdown. Pablo once again put it through the uprights for the extra point. The Tigers decided to let Smith run the ball one more time before halftime. Smith ran for a 13 yard touchdown and Pablo tacked on the extra point. The Raiders were behind and they needed to make a touchdown before half-time. The Raiders drove in for a 3 yard touchdown run and they converted a two point conversion. Going into half-time the Tigers were on top 21 to 14. Neither team could take advantage of their scoring opportunities in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was the back breaker for the Tigers. The Raiders ran in for a 4 yard touchdown and tacked on the extra point to tie things up. The Tigers just could not get anything going. The penalties and the mistakes really hurt the Tigers momentum. With a few minutes left in the game Savannah Christian scored with a 14 yard pass, the extra point was good. The Tigers made one last drive but they were unsuccessful. After the smoke had cleared off the battle field the final score was Raiders 28 and Tigers 21. The Tigers played a well fought game. Derrick Smith rushed for 113 yards in the game. Shawn Riddles had 12 tackles for the night. The Tiger's statistics over power the Raider's, but they just couldn't put enough points on the board. The Tigers suffered a hard loss but look how far they came in the past two years. In 2004 the Tigers overall record was 6-6. In 2005 the Tigers overall record was 4-6. This season the Tigers should hold their heads up high with a overall record of 9-2. Look forward to see what the Tigers can do in the upcoming seasons.
