Dolan Brown honored for service

DOLLAR PRESENTS MEMORIAL TROPHY TO MARY ANN BROWN AND MARK, DAVID AND EDDIE BROWN
The late Dolan E. Brown was honored, during the recent Georgia Farm Bureau 7th District meeting in Statesboro, for 40 years of service as a Georgia Farm Bureau director. Georgia Farm Bureau President Wayne Dollar presented a memorial trophy to Brown's widow, Mary Ann Brown, and the couple's three sons, Mark, David, and Eddie following a short speech detailing Mr. Brown's years of service to Georgia Farm Bureau and Georgia's agricultural industry.

"Dolan was a committed member of Georgia

Farm Bureau who was devoted to working for the betterment of Georgia farmers," Dollar said.

Brown, 77, was first elected to the Georgia Farm Bureau Board of Directors in 1962 and served until 1984. He was reelected in 1988 and served until his death. He was also a board member of the Emanuel County Farm Bureau and had previously served as president and in other leadership positions.

A life-long resident of Emanuel County, Brown was a graduate of the Georgia Teachers College

and a veteran of the United States Army. He began farming independently in 1951. In 1965 the National Jaycees named Brown their Outstanding Young Farmer. Brown helped organize and served as chairman of the Georgia Cotton Commission. He also served as president of the National Cotton Growers Association and was a member of the National Cotton Board. He was a director and past chairman of the board of directors of Ag South Farm Credit.
