Anderson serves city for 60 years!

Barnell Anderson has hit a very important milestone. He has completed 60 years of employment service to the local community and continues today as The Recycling Center manager.

On Nov. 21, 1946, Mr. Anderson began work with Emanuel County. In 1973, he was employed by the City of Swainsboro, eventually becoming Public Works and Streets Department head. Upon his retirement, he took over as The Recycling Center manager.

"Mr. Anderson came to The Recycling Center soon after it began operations," said Keep Emanuel Beautiful Director Joan Dunn. "His continued dedication to the recycling effort in our community has

been invaluable. He has been instrumental in expanding operations and keeping the effort moving forward.

Before the City of Swainsboro acquired The Recycling Center, the facility was operated by volunteers as a committee of the Swainsboro/Emanuel County Clean Community Commission.

Following a visit to the newly constructed building at the faciliity, Swainsboro City Administrator Al Lawson; City Councilwoman Bobbie Collins who heads the committee responsible for The Recycling Center, and KEB Director Dunn expressed their appreciation for Anderson's continuing years of service.
