ECI: Region 3-A champs!

The ECI Bulldogs faced off against the Savannah Country Day Hornets Friday night. This was the Bulldogs' final game of the regular season. The ECI players showed they were ready for any challenge when they refused to let the Hornets score. When asked how it felt to be the region champions, Coach Milan Turner said, "It's awesome! They played hard and worked hard. They got what they wanted. Thank God." The end result of the game was 35-0.

It started with the Bulldogs kicking the ball off to the Hornets. The fight was now on and each team stormed towards the other. The Bulldogs and the Hornets collided for an all-out brawl. The teams fought so hard that neither seemed to gain any yards. Every time either team tried to go anywhere the other was there to stop them. At the end of the first quarter Washaun Ealey carried the ball to the 21 yard line.

Marvin Hughes was not about to let his fellow teammate's run go to waste, so he started the second quarter off with a bang. The ball was handed off to Hughes by Ches Chester and Hughes then plowed through the defense to score the first touchdown. Lance Simmons then stepped up to kick the extra point for the team and the score was now 7-0. After fighting for a few more minutes of game play the Bulldogs were ready to do it again.

This time it was Dexter Moody who stepped up to do the job. With the Hornets working hard to bring him down Moody managed to get across the goal-line. Lance Simmons was there again to kick the extra point. 14-0 is a good score but not quite good enough for the Bulldogs, so they set out for more.

With just over a minute left in the first half, the ball was handed off to Washaun Ealey. Ealey ran all over the Hornets' defense to run a 24 yard touchdown. Simmons then kicked the extra point and the score was changed to 21-0.

The third quarter was underway and the Bulldogs were full of energy and excitement. The quarter had not been going for long when Marvin Hughes' excitement came spilling out. He was so excited that he ran 70 yards for the another touchdown. Lance Simmons was full of excitement too and he kicked yet another extra point. The scoreboard now read 28-0.

The rest of the quarter was packed with awesome plays. The offensive line and defensive line both were doing extraordinary jobs. Then with less than a minute on the clock, Washaun Ealey fought his way through the Hornets to score the final touchdown of the night. Lance Simmons was on fire and as he kicked one more extra point. 35-0 was now the score. During the fourth quarter no touchdowns were made but the Bulldogs still put on a great show. Their players kept up the good work and did not let the Hornets through.

ECI may be Region 3-A champs, but they know that the work has just started. This Friday night they will play their first state playoff game. The Bulldogs, like always will practice to prepare for the game. The game will start at 7:30.
