Tech Foundation begins benefit drive

TECH TRUSTEES PREPARE FOR ANNUAL CAMPAIGN
Swainsboro Technical College Foundation has initiated its annual campaign for 2006. Beginning on Nov. 13, the trustees of the Swainsboro Technical College Foundation will solicit contributions for this cause. The campaign for 2006 is asking for support for all the college's programs, and especially strategic initiatives in: healthcare programs, environmental programs, and industrial/technical programs.

"We are trying to contact everyone we can, in each of the counties in our service area of Candler, Johnson, Jenkins, Treutlen, and Emanuel," commented Garry Pittman, chairman

of the Foundation. "Our trustees are working hard to give everyone a chance to help Swainsboro Technical College."

Dr. Richard Thornton, interim president of Swainsboro Technical College, noted, "We are very excited about our new programs and appreciative of the support we have received from our local communities. Contributions from individuals and businesses have enabled us to accomplish things that would otherwise been impossible."

"The goal for 2006 of $100,000 established by our Trustees is certainly attainable and hopefully we will surpass it. With the

State budget being reduced, the role of our Foundation is becoming more vital to Swainsboro Technical College accomplishing its mission," continued Dr. Thornton.

Trustees from Emanuel County are: Maurice Boatwright, Wendell Durden, Dickson Durden, Sandra Dye, Wally Gallian, Jessie Garrett, Donald Jenkins, Gloria Mason, Lynda Morgan, Homer Moxley, Sr., Garry Pittman, Bill Rogers, Jr., Sid Shepherd, Don Speir, Sonny Stephens, Jean and Shot Strange, Ray Woods and Shelba Youmans.
