Jennie V. Phillips, 62 SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Jennie V. Phillips, 62, was held Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006 at 1 p.m. at St. Philip Baptist Church with Pastor Willie Smith officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. She died East Georgia Medical Center in Statesboro after a brief illness. Mrs. Phillips was a native and lifelong resident of Swainsboro where she attended public schools and Swainsboro Technical College. She was a former member of St. Philip Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, and was a current member of New Bethel Believers in Christ where she was a "prayer warrior" and church secretary. Survivors include her husband, Wilbert Phillips, Troy Phillips and Gerald Phillips of Swainsboro; five sons, Timothy Phillips of Augusta; Michael Johnson of Metter; Tony Phillips of Ridgeland, S.C.; a daughter, Malissa Brown of Statesboro; two sisters, Minnie Washington of Swainsboro; and Betty Jean Durden of Miami, Fla.; 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Reno Tapley Mortuary had charge of arrangements.
